Do you honestly think atheists want to banish the Big Bang? Seriously?

Of course it's possible to hunt around and find some atheist who might have once said something that sort of sounds like he doesn't like the Big Bang, but that's not intellectually honest.

Come on, you guys are intellectually honest, aren't you? You're really searching for the real truth. You're not just snatching up debate points wherever you can. Right?

Hello Mr. Moore,

Do I think all atheists want to banish the Big Bang? No. Do I think some want to banish the standard model of the Big Bang? Yes.

See here.

The scientists quoted on that page you linked to are all pretty old. Those quotes were from the time when the Big Bang theory was still being developed and tested. And even then, the scientists are not denying the Big Bang, but they just admit they feel uncomfortable with it because it looks like God's creation.

When you guys say atheists want to "banish the Big Bang," it sounds like atheists are denying, ignoring or covering up scientific evidence, but that's totally wrong. Take a poll today. You'll have a very hard time finding even one atheist who denies the Big Bang.

Ah! But there are various details of the Big Bang and various definitions! Surely you can find a few atheists who still question this or that aspect of Big Bang theory! But see - when you hunt and peck like that, you're really stretching the point. And that's intellectually dishonest. This what I was trying to say earlier.

You can defend Christianity perfectly well without using these shady tactics. In fact, it casts an ominous shadow over Christianity when you use tricky arguments like that. If you want to win converts, you must argue honorably, don't you think?

Hello Mr. Moore,

This will be my last comment. You may have the last word.

You claim the quotations were “old.” Interesting. Let’s consider a few:

In 1997, Stephen Hawking said:

“Many people do not like the idea that time has a beginning, probably because it smacks of divine intervention… There were therefore a number of attempts to avoid the conclusion that there had been a big bang.”

Further, New Scientist, hardly a Christian publication, wrote in 2012 about the Big Bang:

"Many physicists have been fighting a rearguard action against it for decades, largely because of its theological overtones. If you have an instant of creation, don’t you need a creator?

So, I suppose that Hawking and New Scientist are “being intellectually dishonest?”

I provided a thought provoking link and you somehow automatically conclude, without asking, that I use the argument on a regular basis that “atheists deny the Big Bang” and the truth is, I do not. I found the post interesting, period.

With all due respect, I find your accusations groundless (and borderline insulting) and I will have nothing more to say on this matter.

Right: the important word there being WERE, past tense.
