Alexander Vilenkin on a Cosmic Beginning

"It is said that an argument is what convinces reasonable men and a proof is what it takes to convince even an unreasonable man. With the proof now in place, cosmologists can no longer hide behind the possibility of a past-eternal universe. There is no escape, they have to face the problem of a cosmic beginning."

Courage and Godspeed,

Just pages later in that same book, though, he argues that the best candidate for that "cosmic beginning" is quantum tunneling and subsequent inflation. It's certainly not a case for theism, and it is not particularly honest to pluck that quote out of the book and imply that Vilenkin argues for a deity.

Hello Ryan,

Thank you for visiting the blog and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

Where exactly in this post do I assert or even imply that Vilenkin is arguing for a deity?
