Slavery, the Bible and Christianity

An atheist friend of mine and I were recently discussing slavery and the Bible.  We were discussing the pros and cons of various attempts by apologists to explain why slavery or indentured servitude was permitted by God.

Cold-case homicide detective J. Warner Wallace has offered a series of 3 articles in which he attempts to deal the with the issue of slavery and the Bible.

The articles are as follows:

Why Did Some Historic Christians Promote Slavery While Others Condemned It?

Four Differences Between New Testament Servitude and New World Slavery

Why Would Have God Have Permitted Any Form of Servitude or Slavery?

Please feel free to share any thoughts you have on this topic, or Jim's articles, in the comments!

And if you are not familiar with Jim's work, you can learn more here.

Courage and Godspeed,
Chad
