Chad, great article by Turek. The numbers of scientists admitting to some kind of research misbehavior is shocking. Sounds to me that most scientists are missing one crucial book in their laboratory..THE BIBLE!!

While regrettable, it's not all together that shocking when you consider that a scientist is a man and man has his inherent shortcomings and failings. What is more shocking is what goes on in some churches across the nation that HAVE the Bible. One doesn't have to look too far to see shocking things: Catholic priests, TV evangelists with multi-million dollar lifestyles, even locally with churches building multi-million dollar expansion projects. Last time I read the Bible Jesus didn't need a multi-thousand foot facility complete with gym, a built in school, etc to reach his flock. Just a point to ponder, that's all.
Thanks for commenting! First off, I want to make clear that I know many scientists and engineers who are stand-up guys. All of us have the capacity to sin. As the Bible states, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23).
Second, Jesus warned us about the very folks you mention:
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them...Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!" (Matt. 7: 15; 21-23)
It's been well said that thousands of planes take off all the time, but we only hear about the one that crashes. For a few thousand of years, followers of Christ have fed the hungry, clothed the sick, and given to the poor, but those stories don't seem to make it to the newscasts.
We must judge a belief, not be the believer, but by the validity, or non-validity, of the belief itself.
As for me, I strive to be the church I want to see instead of complaining about what the Church is not.
My apologies! Further, I wanted to add that I believe Turek's point was that scientists aren't always as objective as some in our culture would have us believe. Scientists such as Dawkins, Coyne, or Dennett are sometimes elevated to "pope-like" status- they are "infallible" to some.
Regardless of your chosen discipline, we should each strive to be as objective as possible and challenge our biases as much as we can.
As you rightly pointed out, we all have shortcomings and failings. Hence, that is why we need a Savior!
Hello my friend! It's important to remember that there ARE many scientists who do hold to a biblical worldview.
Unfortunately, as Billy pointed out in his comment, we all have the capacity to do evil; however, when a follower of Christ willfully commits an evil act, his actions contradict the teachings of Christ.
We must be careful to not judge any philosophy or worldview by those who abuse it.
Billy and Chad, Both of you have great points. Yes there are a lot of Scientists that hold to the Biblical view, however I guess it is just really eye opening when you think about how many of our children in the school systems are reading flawed books of science, and unfortunately are not receiving any other resources of information. As we all know though there is not one profession where there is absolute perfection and without flaw. This topic is a great reminder of why we need to thouroughly research and look into what we are reading and defending.

Good points as always Chad. As with anything else in life it's always best to keep an open mind and research the different resources and points of view available. That's why I visit Truthbomb! Keep up the good work!
Very, very true! Many times it is a painful process, but a necessary one!
Even the Bible encourages believers to "test all things and hold to that which is good" (1 Thess. 5:21).
I greatly appreciate the encouragement!
Godspeed

Jake,
I agree with you regarding the flawed books of science that students are being given in the educational system. There appears to be an agenda behind the content of the science textbooks. Even when I was in college studying Marine Biology in the 80's, I was exposed to much of the same. Thankfully, my first Biology professor presented the Theory of Evolution as what it was- a theory. He also spoke about Creation. I kept some of my college textbooks, and when reviewing them now, I can see that they are written with the supposition that Darwin's Theory is factual. The Biblical view makes so much more sense to me than what I have read in my science textbooks. Chad, thanks for your Bible reference, 1Thess. 5:21--it has great meaning for me. I continue to strive to know the Truth more and more every single day.
Lavinia, Thanks for the comment. Also unfortunately most parents are not involved in their childrens educational lives and therefore never even see what is being presented to their children. Thank God though for all the parents and teachers who strive to keep feeding their children the truth. Also thank Chad for this awesome Truthbomb Apologetics!!
