Koukl puts mathematical truths and the laws of logic into the same basket as 'things he feels very strongly about' or 'things that evoke a strong reaction'. One cannot even deny a law of logic without contradiction oneself. That's not the same as situations where he can only say "If someone disagrees with that, one can only suggest that person gets help".
Further, if Koukl sees 'rape is wrong' as a truth in the same bracket as '1+1=2' – one that requires no justification, that simply could not be any other way, then he cannot also claim that one requires a God to explain it. Even God could not make 1+1=3, after all.
He is not alone here.
Atheist Michael Ruse states:
“The man who says that it is morally acceptable to rape little children is just as mistaken as the man who says, 2+2=5.”
A great book on this topic is C.S. Lewis's classic Mere Christianity which you can read or listen to online here.
