Why does the body of Christ sometimes seem so intellectually disengaged and apathetic? How did we get here? Is there a way back?
This message by Dr. J.P. Moreland has had more impact on me than any other I have heard. If you listen, prepare to be challenged.
If you want to learn more I highly recommend Dr. Moreland's book Loving God with All Your Mind.

I am forever feeling guilty that I'm wasting my time because I like intellectual pursuits. I was always told by my parents that I read too much in general, and when I first got saved I was told that I'll "go crazy" if I read the Bible too much.
I know that's not true. But when you're raised in a home that does not value these things ("Get your head out of the clouds!") it's hard to shake that mindset and that guilt.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Alas, I fear the comments made to you are all to common and they stem from a Christianity that has strayed far from it's historical roots.
As Moreland argues, historically Christians have valued the life of the mind and you honor Christ through your studies. Keep it up!
Godspeed
