About the Book
"The discipline of hearing and applying the preached Word is part of the vital bread and butter of a healthy, full-blooded Christian life. If we’re honest though, we probably allow ourselves to become overly familiar with the sermons we hear. ... But, the most important sermon we’ll ever hear is probably the next one we’re deciding whether or not to give our attention to."
This is not a book for preachers (but if they read it, that'd be okay, too).
This is a book about preaching as formation. Preaching for those who persist in hearing it - from veteran Christians to new believers. It is the essential, no-frills guide to how to grow in the discipline of receiving the preached Word of God week after week, day after day. In this book, you'll learn:Why the preached Word is a powerful, ordinary means of grace.
